TRAINING FOR FOREMEN
COURSES AT AUCKLAND (P.A.) AUCKLAND, September 26. Technical college courses for the training of foremen and departmental and industrial managers had been running for some time in Auckland, said Mr S. L Astley, local vice-president of the Institute of Industrial Management, on Saturday. He was commenting on a report from Wellington that Mr R. D. Greenwood, Dominion president of the institute, had expressed satisfaction that the Minister of Education (Mr T. H. McCombs) contemplated such courses. “As far as Auckland is concerned that happened Jong ago,” said Mr Astley. “There are now 70 students taking courses at the Seddon Memorial and Avondale Technical Colleges in the introduction to foremanship and foremanship and departmental management. The institute is supervising the courses and in some cases supplying tutors. It will also be setting examinations at the end of the year.
