PRICE TRIBUNAL’S ORDER
POSTPONEMENT SOUGHT BY TRADE From Our Own Reporter
WELLINGTON, Sept. 24. Representatives of the New Zealand Licensed Victuallers’ Association have conferred this week with the Minister of Supply (Mr A. H. Nordmeyer) on several matters.
Efforts have ibeen made by the trade representatives to cancel dr delay the Price Tribunal order which states that the serving of lOoz measures in all hotels will be compulsory as from October 1. The association claims that many licensees will still have inadequate supplies of lOoz glasses on that date. If the order comes into effect on the date stated it is expected by the trade that a number of prosecutions are inevitable.
The association also discussed with the Minister the tariff charges of hotels, and put forward propositions for increases which the trade considers necessary. The licensing laws were, it is understood. the subject of considerable discussion by the Labour Caucus this week. Among the items considered were the redistribution of licences and the anomalies existing in non-licensed areas. . f
