PLOT TO MURDER GEN. PERON
ARGENTINE POLICE REPORT (Rec. 10 p.m.) BUENOS AIRES, September 23. The Argentine Government to-day announced that it had discovered a plot against the President (General Juan D. Peron) and his wife. Arrests have been made. Th 2 police said the plot was organised by Mr John Griffith, who was described as cultural attache at the United States Embassy in Argentina while Mr Spruille Braden was United States Ambassador to Argentina. Mr Braden was ordered from the country in April, 1945. The police said that President Peron and his wife were to have been killed on October 12.
Australian League Team Beats Hull. —The Australian Rugby League team beat Hull by 13 points to 9. Twenty thousand people saw the game, which was played at a fast pace.—London, September 23.
