OFFICIAL FORECASTS

“The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, Sept. 24. The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows:

Situation: pressures are high to the north and over the South Island. A weak cold front lies across the southern districts of the North Island. Forecast to 5 p.m.: variable winds and fair weather inland. Moderate northeasterlies and cloudy weather near the coast. Temperatures cool to moderate. Further cutlook: mainly fair. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Variable winds. Weather fair to cloudy. Temperatures moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather yesterday was overcast and showery after a fine early morning, and there was little wind. The maximum temperature was 62.4 degrees.
