COURT-MARTIAL AT BURNHAM

SOLDIER FOUND GUILTY OF DESERTION

• Charged with deserting the Army, in that he absented ■ himself without leave from Burnham from September 17, 1942, until he surrendered on September 16 this year, Private Arthur Ernest Wright pleaded not guilty when he appeared before a court-martial at Burnham yesterday. Major R. de la Cour was president of the Court, and Captain R. T. J. Adams and Lieutenant F. A. Bishop were the members. The prosecutor was Captain C. Meiklejohn and the defending officer Captain F. A. Gunn. Wright called his mother in his defence. She outlined the family circumstances and said her son left the Army because she was in ill-hcalth.

Wright was found guilty of desertion, Sentence will be promulgated later.
