THISTLE SEEDS IN WHEAT.—The discovery of saffron thistle seed heads in wheat cargoes from Australia has recently caused concern. Now the weed, which has gained a considerable hold in Australia, has been found in a shipment of wheat being discharged at Lyttelton. This photograph (slightly enlarged) shows some of the seeds. The question of having saffron thistle declared a noxious weed is being taken up with the Minister of Agriculture.
