TRACK WORK AT ADDINGTON

GANTREE IN FORM Gantree attracted attention to his prospects in the Bowhill Handicap at the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting tomorrow when, paced by Dundee Sandy, he covered a mile and a half at Addings ton yesterday morning in 3min 24 2-ssec, the last half mile in Imin 2 2-ssec. Nelsonova followed Dundee Sandy and Gantree all the way. Cne. of J. Purdon’s team at Addington, Gantree. which races in the interests ot Mr T. Baker, gained a win and two minor placings last season, his win being in the Shirley Handicap at the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting on September 27. A six-year-old gelding, Gantree is by Lucky Jack from Alice de Oro, which is by Rey de Oro from, a Great Audubon mare.

Carisbrook, an acceptor in the Farewell Handicap at the New Brighton meeting, worked well over a mile and a quarter in 2min 54sec, the last half mile in Imin 4 2-ssec.

Carisbrook, which is trained at Addington by E. A. Berry for Mr A. H. V. Berry, has shown good form on grass tracks. He may be capable of springing a. surprise to-morrow. Sir John and Dillondale worked over two miles In srhin, the last four furlongs in Imin a l-ssec. A maiden pacer in R. Thompson’s team. Sir John appears to be on the improve.

Doonholme and Tekau covered a mile and a half in 3min 37sec, the last half mile in Imin 7sec. Sir Vivian Pleases Sir Vivian finished close up to Loyal Peter after working, over two miles in 4min . 27sec, the last half mile in Imin 7 4-.§Sec. Benny Scott, which was worked at the trotting gait, covered two miles in 4min 50sec. Bonny Scott looks a model of condition and she should be seen at her best in the Henry Mace Handicap at New Brighton.

Mountmellick was too good for King’s Messenger at the end of a mile and a half in 3min 37 3-ssec. Mountmellick appears to have benefited considerably by his spell. He may make the grade to good company, this season.

Working alone, Maori Home covered a mile in 2min llsec, the last half mile in Imin 6sec.

Jottings A gelding by Pacing Power from Canterbury Belle is showing a lot of ability for R. Thompson, who is educating him at Addington.

The favourite. Big Guy, lost his chance when he broke in the Royal Oak Handicap at the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting on Saturday. If he trots solidly he should earn some of the prize money in the Whitford Handicap on the second day of the meeting to-morrow.

Harmonist, the runner-up to Conceit in the Addington Trotting Stakes on the second day of the National meeting at Addington, may gain her first win for the season In the Drayton Trot Handicap at the Methveh Trotting Club’s meeting next week. Belshazzar is one of the favourites for the Innovation Handicap at the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting to-morrow. In Favour Sand Piper’s second placing to Lone Raider in the Takanini Handicap on the first day of the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting has brought her into favour for the Ferguson Handicap, the main event on the concluding day of the meeting tomorrow.

Her stablemate, Captain Sandy, which finished second to Goldina in the United Handicap last week,’will probably be sent out favourite for the Putiki Handicap tomorrow.

At Charteris Bay J. Anderson, who trains his team at Charteris Bay, is working a three-year-old filly by Josedale Dictator from Sister Mary, and. a two-year-old colt by Light Brigade from the same mare. The filly, which shows a lot of ability at the trotting gait, is expected to race well in the classics later in the season.

A winner herself, Sister Mary, the dam of these youngsters, is by Guy Parrish from Sister Maud, which left a winnei in Sister Rose to Rey de Oro. Murfitt. who trains his team at Rangiora, is working an attractive youngster by My Trick (Jack Potts—Peggy Logan) from a winner in Pearl Logan, the dam of Pearl Shell, Frank Logan, Calumet Pointer, Frank’s Pride, Logan Scott, and Highland Chief. Foaled in 1923, Pearl Logan, which looks particularly well, is in foal to My Trick and she will be mated with him again this season. By Jack Potts Orthodox, which is engaged in the Westward Ho Handicau at the Methven Trotting Club’s meeting on October 2, gave a fair display to finish second to Bonny Brogue in the first division of the 2min 59sec pace at the trials at Addington on Tuesday.
