AWARD WAGES
Sir,—As I pointed out in my first letter on this subject Mr Bodkin. Opposition member for Central Otago and stalwart of the old-time Tory regime, alleges that no award wage to-day is suficient to enable a family man to live without the family allowance, a very pleasing display of interest in the workers, but rather a contrast with his party’s lack of interest when it was seeded. John Odgers. on his own Mtement a strong supporter of that party, informs us that award wages rake life peaches and cream for Labourites. Apparently Mr Odgers and the member for Central Otago have their wires crossed. As to the farmer? rft enjoying the same pleasures as Labourites, a glance at the array of cars at anv countrv clearing sale any day, or outside the local picture shows, etc., hardly seems to substantiate his isiertion.— Yours, etc. FAIR PLAY. September 23, 1948.
