TSINAN BATTLE
GOVERNMENT SAID TO BE HOLDING LINES
(Rec. 7 p.m.) SHANGHAI. Sept 21. The Chinese Government and Communist armies continue their desperate battle for Tsinan, the capital of Shantung. Up to late this afternoon the Government defenders were said to be still holding the main lines outside the city limits intact, in spite of the arrival lof more Communist reinforcements and the defection of a divisional commander with about 2000 troops to the Communists.
The besieging Communist units have launched new assaults on another Shantung city. Changchun, after a violent artillery barrage, in which many civilians are said to have been killed.
