OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON. September 22. The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: an anti-cyclone is moving north-eastwards over New Zealand. Pressure is low to the south and south-east of Tasmania. Forecast: strong north-westerlies inland. Weather fair. Temperatures mild to warm inland. Further outlook: cloudy. The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate to fresh westerly winds. Weather cloudy and mild. Some brief drizzle. Further outlook: occasional drizzle or rain. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday, after a frost of eight degrees, was fine and mild. The maximum temperature was 63.2 degrees. • There were few clouds in the sky at midnight, and there was only a light easterly breeze, but the temperature was 51.1 degrees. The barometer at 29.979 inches (1015.2 millibars) was falling unsteadily. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 1 a.m, .. Nil
