RESTITUTION OF CONJUGAL RIGHTS SOUGHT

The hearing of a petition by Margaret Mary Wallace for an order for restitution of conjugal rights against Alfred Baptist Wallace, a barman, of Christchurch, was begun in the Supreme Court yesterday, before Mr Justice Fleming, and will be continued to-day. The petition is being defended by the respondent on two grounds. He alleges that the petitioner was intemperate and, while under the influence of liquor, was violent, abusive, and a source of danger to the person and property of the respondent; this amounting to cruelty. It is further alleged that there was an oral agreement to separate. Mr D. J. Hewitt is appearing for the petitioner* and Mr P. H. T. Alpers for the respondent.
