OBITUARY

MR G. A. MCKENDRICK

<P.A.) AUCKLAND. September 22. Mr George Alfred McKendrick, of Epsom, was drowned to-day in a surfing accident at Brisbane, Queensland. He was on a holiday visit to Australia with his wife.

Mr McKendrick. who was 55, was born in Auckland and educated in Australia. He was managing director of McKendrick Brothers. Ltd. A prominent owner of trotting horses, he was a member of the committee of the Auckland Trotting Club for several years, and was also a member of the Auckland Trotting Owners’, Trainers’ and Breeders’ Association. In association with his two brothers, Mr McKendrick bred, trained, and raced a number of trotters. He drove his horse. Blue Mountain King, to victory in the Auckland Trotting Cup in 1923.

Mr McKendrick was a former member of the Onehunga Borough Council. He is survived by his wife, a son •and a daughter.
