A shipment of bananas is due any day now, but it will be a full week before they are ripe enough for the retell trade. MINING Arahnrar Ranieri Returns.—The two dredging units of Gold Mines, New Zealand, Ltd., during August won a total of 2080 ounces .of gold. Arahura was responsible for 954 ounces from 243,000 yard* in 513 hours, and Kanieri, 1126 ounces from 242,000 yards in 488 hours. Tne Arahura dredge in the second half of the month won 487 ounces of gold from 136,uw yards in 278 hours, and Kanieri 590 ounces from 141,000 yards, in 261 hours.—(P.S.S.i

Catches of Whitebait.— Several good catches of whitebait were made near Westport yesterday, some totalling to or 20 pints. The whitebait met with a ready sale at 6s a pint.
