SIAMESE AID TO BRITISH
CAMPAIGN AGAINST COMMUNISTS FORCES PERMITTED TO CROSS FRONTIER (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) BANGKOK, August 26. “British military and police patrols may in future cross the Siamese frontier in pursuit of fleeing Malayan Communist bands,” said an official announcement in Bangkok. "British forces will also be permitted to carry out operations to frustrate Communist movements inside Siamese territory which threaten Malayan districts. The Siamese police, military, and civil authorities have been ordered to extend all-out help to the British forces.’’ The Siamese Cabinet is reported to be considering the British Government’s request for the closure of the entire land frontiers with Malaya to facilitate anti-Communist operations.
