1949 TOURNAMENT IN DUNEDIN (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, August 24. The Council of the New Zealand Basketball Association, at a meeting at New Plymouth this evening, allocated the 1949 Dominion tournament to Otago. It was decided that a minor association which had a team playing in the second grade of the Dominion tournament should be permitted to enter a team in the third grade, provided it has sub-associations affiliated to it and a total of at least 100 players. A remit from the Canterbury Association opposing The holding of trials for the selection of North and South Island teams Was passed. Players will be selected on form displayed during the Dominion tournament.
