Pink (Palmerston North), A. Laurenson (Christchurch), and C. Allen (Auckland); secretary, Mr R. Goodwin (Wellington); treasurer, Mr F. Jones (Wellington); executive, Messrs E. Smither (Dunedin), J. Tall (Southland). In support of a remit that speedways be allowed to operate within 12 miles of each other, Mr Shews said that if the remit were adopted the union would still have the option of granting licences for the operation of such speedways. Mr Allen said that the rule as it stood forestalled the establishment of uneconomic tracks and protected existing tracks. The remit was not adopted. It was decided that in future motorcycle and midget car racing would not be held on the same programme. Applications to operate speedways at Auckland, made by two individuals, were deferred for one month. An application by Christchurch Speedways, Ltd., for the transfer of a provisional licence from English' Park to one of two sites for which the company held options, was granted. It was said that the company would open its new speedway on November 6. A permit to operate a speedway in the Wainoni riding had already been granted by the Heathcote County Council and it was for this that the provisional licence was granted.
