AUCKLAND BALLET STUDENTS

EXAMINATION SUCCESS (P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 5.

Three Auckland ballet students won distinction in recent Royal Academy dancing examinations conducted by Miss Ruth French, of London. Miss Pamela Wishnowsky. daughter of Mr and Mrs Gregory Webster, who recently adopted her mother’s name by deed poll, passed all three major examinations, elementary, intermediate, and advanced in one week. This has never before been done in Auckland and there is no record of such an achievement elsewhere in New Zealand.

Miss Caye Henley won the solo seal, the academy’s highest award. Donald McAlpine won the solo seal with honours in the final examination.

Miss Wishnowsky will this month for Melbourne to join the Borovansky school* from which are recruited dancers for the well known ballet company. Mr McAlpine hopes to continue his studies abroad.
