OBITUARY
MR PERCY BELL (P.A.) DUNEDIN, July 2?. Mr Percy Bell, a director of the Evening Star Company, died last night at the age of 74. Mr Bell, who was a grandson of the founder of the paper, was born in Melbourne and, after graduating bachelor of engineering there, came to Dunedin and joined the “Evening Star.” For some years he represented the newspaper in the Parliamentary Press Gallery. He is survived by his widow, one son, Mr John Bell, of the “Evening Star” reporting staff, and two daughters. MR C. Wo REES (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 22. The death has occurred of Cecil Walter Rees, aged 85, son of the discoverer of Lake Wakatipu (Mr W. G. Rees). His Christian names are perpetuated in Cecil and Walter Peaks, on the west arm of Lake Wakatipu. The family name remains in the Rees river.
Born at Waipahi, Mr Rees spent his early boyhood in Queenstown, and at Station Peak, South Canterbury, later settling in Wellington.
