VISIT OF PERSIAN KING TO BRITAIN
(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, July 21. The Shah of Persia, who has arrived in England to see something of the advances in scientific and industrial technique with the object of discovering what contribution they can make to the economic and social needs of his own country is staying at Buckingham Palace as the guest of the King and Queen for the first two days of his visit. On his first evening, Their Majesties, with the Shah, arrived informally and unannounced to see “Annie Get Your Gun,” at the Colisseum. With them were Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret. The leading lady in the play had a line in her script: “Colonel Bill Cody played before the crowned heads of Europe and the Shah of Persia.” and when she reached it the audience held up the show with prolonged applause.
