PERISHABLE CARGOES AT AUCKLAND

PRIORITY FOR POTATOES (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, July 21. "The Waterfront Industry Commission has given priority at the port of Auckland for the discharging of potatoes and other perishable cargoes, and will continue to give priority of labour for the discharge of potatoes loaded for shipment up to June 30.” said the Minister of Labour, Mr A. McLagan, in the House of Representatives to-day. The commission recommended to the Union Steam Ship Company that until the Mountpark dispute was settled that June 30 should be the final date on which the company should accept potato cargoes for epnsignment to Auckland, said Mr McLagan. The Minister was answering a question from Mr P. C. Kidd (Opposition, Waimate), who had said that, because of the waterfront dispute Canterbury growers had been placed in an awkward position through merchants cancelling orders. COMPANY NEWS HiH and Plummer.—The shareholders of Hill and Plummer, Ltd., passed unanimously in extraordinary meeting a resolution which gave authority to their directors to settle all terms and conditions relating to the formation of the company to take over as a going concern the trading operations of Hill and Plummer. Lta. The existing Hill and Plummer Company, Ltd., will hold a 50 per cent, interest in the proposed new company, and the other 50 per cent, interest will be held by Pinchin.
