SHORTAGE OF GOODS
Sir, —The Opposition member for Rangitikei says that so long as the Labour Government remains in power shortages will exist. Well, he has let the cat out of the bag, because it is well known that his party and the manufacturers, also the warehouse people, who are 100 per cent. Nationalists, have their heads together. Their motive is to dribble the goods out sparingly to consumers to cause embarrassment to the people and the Government. These tricks and rackets are to poison the electors into voting for their party. They realise now, after so many defeats, that this is the only way to shift the present Government. Warehouses from time to time have openly declared to retailers that they will release the goods only when higher prices are forthcoming and not before. The Opposition Party is out and determined to come at anything to defeat the Government Yours, etc., G. E. WRIGHT. July 17, 1948.
