JET ENGINE FOR AIRLINERS
DE HAVILLAND COMET TO BE EQUIPPED LONDON, July 19. The first jet engine to be fully approved for use in airliners, the de Havilland Ghost, has just been passed by the British authorities. As the Ghost engine has been certified reliable for use in passenger-carrying aircraft, it will he installed in the de Havilland Comet.
The Comet, which is now being completed. will be the first complete jet airliner to go into service anywhere.
