’ 0 The chairman (Mr H. G. Livingstone) was appointed at a meeting of the Christchurch Drainage Board last evening to represent the board at a meeting called by the Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews) to advance the claims of the South Island to a greater share in major public works. Mr A. M. Satterthwaite will leave Christchurch to-day on a business trip to the United States and Canada. He will sail from Auckland in the Rimutaka and will be away for some months. Mr G. A. Rawstron has resigned from the engineer’s staff of the Christchurch Drainage Board. The board, at its meeting last evening, expressed appreciation of his services.
