PROFESSIONAL BOUT POSTPONED The professional bout arranged between Laurie Petersen and Clarrie Gordon to take place at. Wilding Park next Saturday morning was postponed for two weeks. Gordon suffered a cut above an eye in his bout with Slavin at Napier on Saturday, and under medical advice has been compelled to ask for a postpc ocjnent. -. EXCELSIOR SHIELD TEAM SELECTED The following team has been selected to represent Canterbury In a contest for Excelsior Shield at Wellington on Monday:— Fly-weight, J. Winder; bantam-weight, C. Herriot; feather-weight, J. O’Connor; welter-weight, J. Musson; middle-weight, A. H. Whittle; light-heavy-weight, J. Fogarty. HONEY BEATS CLINGAN (P.A.) WANGANUI, July 20. Colin Honey (Auckland) beat Ern Clingan (Australia) in a 10-round professional boxing contest this evening on points. Honey was much the fitter of the pair and won practically every round. Both Mullet and Tommy Downes have issued challenges to the winner.
