OBITUARY
MR JOHN MARSHALL The death occurred recently of Mr John Marshall, of Christchurch, a wellknown breeder of dogs, and a member of the Canterbury Kennel Club. He was particularly interested in Sydney Silkies. Mr Marshall was born in Dunoliv, Victoria, and he came to New Zealand in 1900 as a representative of James Bel] and Company, Limited, contracting supplies of oats and fodder to the British War Office for the troops in South Africa during the Boer War. He was later employed by A. S. Paterson and Company, Limited, and Wright, Stephenson and Company. Ltd. He took over the Christchurch business of Brown, Little, and Company, and was finally in partnership in bunedin with a firm of auctioneers. He retired to live in Christchurch some years ago. Mr Marshall is survived by his widow, and a brother. Mr C. J. Marshall, of Oamaru, and another brother and sister in Victoria.
