RECORD BROKEN BY AUSTRALIAN The main attraction at the Tai Tapu Motor Club’s meeting, held at Tai Tapu yesterday, was Les Moore, an Australian rider, who succeeded in breaking the record of A. G. Holland (500 c.c. lap in 35 4-ssec) in 32 2-ssec. His well-controlled broadsides earned him applause from the spectators. Other fast times recorded were those of J. Swarbrick, A. G. Holland, T. Redmond, and E. Brown. Showers threatened to make the track slippery in the morning, but at 2 o’clock it was in good condition. The following were the results:— 350 c.c. Championship.—E. Brown 1, A. Holland 2, G. Topp 3. Halswell Handicap.—G. Topp 1, J. Cunningham 2, E. Nelson 3. Kaiapoi Handicap.—J. Cunningham 1, M. Griffiths 2, G. Topp 3. Chrisehurch Handicap.—T. Redmond and J. Swarbrick (equal) 1, A Holland 3. 500 c.c. Championship.—J. Swarbrick 1, M. Griffiths 2, W. Swarbrick 3. Springston Handicap.—A. Holland 1, E. Brown 2, M. Griffiths 3. Opawa Handicap.—A. Holland 1, J. Swarbrick 2, E. Brown 3. Smither Handicap.—J. Swarbrick 1, A. Holland 2, T. Redmond 3. Cashmere Handicap.—J. Swarbrick 1, A. Holland 2, E. Brown 3. Beckenham Handicap.—A. Holland 1, J. Swarbrick 2, T. Redmond 3. Linwood Handicap.—J. Cunningham 1, M. Griffiths 2, G. Topp 3. SOUTH CANTERBURY CLUB D. Morrow rode exceptionally well to win the second sporting trial held by the South Cantferbuey Motor-cycle Club yesterday. Morrow lost 69 points. Next in order were J. Stirling with 96 points lost, and L. Darling with 110 lost. Twelve of the 16 riders completed the course. The winning team was K. Halkett, K. Crossman, and D. Morrow, who lost a total of <22 points.
