The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is &s follows: Situation: an intense anti-cyclone centred over the South Tasman Sea extends over New Zealand. There is a depression over the north Tasman. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate easterly winds. Some local cloudy areas, but weather mainly fine. Temperatures cold. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate or fresh easterly winds. Weather fine. Temperatures cool. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fairly sunny, but there were frequent showers of rain and a light bpt cold southerly wind. The sky at midnight was almost overcast and there was a very light south-west wind. The barometer, at 30.57 in (1035.2 millibars), was steady.
