ATLANTIC FLIGHT BY JET PLANES
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) OTTAWA July 17. Squadron Leader Robert Oxspring, who commanded the flight of six Royal Air Force Vampire jet aircraft which have just completed the first transAtlantic flight by jet aircraft, said the aircraft had flown into head winds of 150 miles an hour as they flew over the Arctic. Their to,tal flying time was 13 hours. Their route was from Stornoway, in the Hebrides, to Iceland. Greenland, Goose Bay (Labrador), and Quebec.
