CHARTER FLIGHT BARRED
VISIT TO N.Z. BY OLD VIC COMPANY MELBOURNE. July 1«. The Old Vic Company, featuring Sir I Laurence Olivier and Lady Olivier. I has been refused the right to fly i direct from Brisbane to Auckland by chartered Skymasters at the conclusion I of Its Australian tour. The decision also affects th* Ballet Rambert, which was to have been i brought back to Australia from New Zealand. The Director-General of Civil Aviation in Australia (Air Marshal R. • Williams) said yesterday that there : was a regular service to New Zealand and dollars could not be wasted i on petrol. Arrangements were made originally , for the Old Vic Company to send its ■ scenery ahead to New Zealand, and its members to be flown from Brisbane to Auckland in two chartered Skymasters on September 5. As the Ballet Rambert was expected to complete its Dominion tour at the same time as the Old Vic Company ended its season in Brisbane, it was pro- , posed to take the Ballet Rambert to Brisbane in the Skymasters for the beginning of its return season in Aus- ’ tralia.
