Air Commodore S. Wallingford, C.8.E., who recently returned from a course at the Imperial Defence College, has been appointed rvir Force Member for Personnel. He succeeds Group Captain T. W. White. C.B.E. E.D.
The retiring general manager of railways, Mr J. Sawers, and the retiring assistant-general manager, Mr C. R. Riesop. were honoured at a function in the social hall of the Railways Department in Wellington yesterday. when tributes were paid to them by the Prime Minister (Mr P Fraser) and other speakers. Mr Fraser handed gifts to both men. In a letter the Minister of Railways (Mr R Semple) highly praised the qualities of both officers. Subsequently both were the guests of the department’s executive officers, when further presentations were made.—(P.A.)
The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Racing Conference in Wellington yesterday: president. Mr H. R. Chalmers; vice-president, Mr W. Claud Motion; executive committee. Messrs A. McGregor Grant, D. E. Wanklyn, L. C. Hazlett. J. W. Hannan, F. P. Kelly, W. Grieve. G. Fraser. G. C. Glenn, H. H. Green.
