YOUNG MAN BURNED TO DEATH HUT DESTROYED AT LAKE PUKAKI From Our Own Reporter TIMARU; July 16. When a fire in a small single room at Lake Pukaki was extinguished by a bucket brigade shortly after 3 o’clock this morning, the body of William Rangi Phillips, aged 20, an employee of the Public Works Department, was discovered. The body was brought to Timaru to-day, where an inquest for identification was opened this afternoon before the Coroner (Mr M. M. Enting), who ordered a post-mortem examination. Evidence of identification was given by another Public Works employee. Arthur George Dunfoy. Jt is understood that it was at first thought that Phillips was not in the hut, but a check showed that he was missing. Phillips’ parents aye understood to live in Taranaki.
