PRINCESS MARGARET RICKS NECK

INABILITY TO ATTEND EXHIBITION (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON. July 16. Princess Margaret ricked her neck at Buckingham Palace yesterday morning. This was revealed when the Queen sent a message to Dr. Barnardo’s Homes at Garden City, Essex, where the Princess was scheduled to open a handcraft exhibition. Although the Princess was not present to receive a posy of karaka leaves and New Zealand ferns sent by air mail from Wellington, it will be sent on to her. With it will go a message from Lady Freyberg, sent on behalf of the 32.000 supporters of Dr. Earnado’s Homes in the Dominion. The posy, with another of English flowers, was received by Lady Whitmore, wife of the Lord Lieutenant of Essex. They were given to her for dispatch to Princess Margaret by two nine-mopths’-old twins, held in the arms of the sister in charge of the New Zealand Cottage at the homes. This is ivy-covered and attractively furnished, and houses 19 babies, including three sets of twins and one •et of triplets. In the Queen’s note saying the Princess was unable to attend. Her Majesty said she was grieved to send such a message, but Princess Margaret was unable to move for the time •being. Her Majesty hoped that the Princess would be able to pay a visit to the home at a later date.
