The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows : Situation: pressures are low to the south and east of New Zealand. An anti-cyclone centred over south-east Australia extends over the Tasman Sea. Forecast: light to moderate southerly winds. Weather fair but cold. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate easterly winds. Weather fair to fine. Temperatures cool. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER After a frost of 3.9 degrees Christchurch had a cold, showery day, with a southwest wind. The maximum temperature was 47.8 degrees. The sky was overcast at midnight and there was a faint south-west breeze. The temperature was 41.1 degrees. The barometer at 29.9 inches (1012.5 millibars) was rising unsteadily.
