STEWARD FINED Stephen Bristow, a steward in the overseas ship Waiwera, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court at Lyttelton yesterday, before Messrs W C. Cleary and T. A. Mahar, Justices of the Peace, to a charge of using obscene language in the Excelsior Hall. He was convicted and fined £5. Senior-Sergeant F. HayhurSt said that a dance was being held at the hall and defendant and others had gone in late and under the influence of liquor. He accosted two girls who were dancing together and asked for a dance. They declined, but he persisted, and finally used obscene language to them.
