CONFUSION OVER LATE CALLS
“There has been a certain amount of confusion because the Post Office has been unable to supply new directories, but within a few weeks they should be available to the. public. These complaints should then be eliminated,” said Mr W. A. Breach. District Traffic Manager of Railways at Christchurch, wheri complaints made to “The Press” of difficulty in telephoning the Railway Department at Christchurch at certain times were referred to him. The department’s number was 32-640, Mr Breach said, but after 10 p.fn., and on Sxndays, the railway exchange was not staffed, and the number then was 32-649. There had been some trouble but calls after 10 p.m. and on Sundays were so few that the keeping open of the exchange was not justified.
