WOMEN’S MARCHING ASSOCIATION

Under the chairmanship of Mr J. A’Court, a well-attended meeting was held last week to fornf the Christchurch Marching Association.

The draft constitution was adopted and the following officers were elected:—president, Mr A. W. Fergus; vice-presi-dents, Captain E. W. Boyle, Mrs J. Perrin, and Messrs L. Barnes and R. Forscutt; hon. secretary. Mr Trevor Neate: hon. assistant secretary and treasurer, Miss Pam Smith; executive, Misses' J. Butler, B. Orchard. B.' Thomas, J. Lapthorne, Flying Officer A. Levy, Messrs A McFarlane, J. Hall, and D. Papprill.

The chairman introduced Mr K. W. Kilpatrick, secretary of the Marching and Recreation Association, with which the new association will be affiliated. Addressing the meeting Mr Kilpatrick said that after a recent conference with the New Zealand Marching Union, the latter had agreed to a merger. This meant that the New Zealand Marching and Recreation Association now controlled the sport throughout the Dominion, having affiliated to it associations from Kaitaia in the north to Invercargill in the south.
