A cold front is moving north-east over the South Island. Forecast to 5 p.»n.: winds changing in the morning to fresh squth-westerlies. Occasional rain spreading from the south, bu£ weather improving in the afternoon. Temperatures rather cold. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Fresh south-west winds, with occasional rain this morning, but weather improving from the south this afternoon. Temperatures cool. CHRISTCHURCR VVEATfIpK The weather yesterday was fine bpt Cool, with a light easterly wind. At midnight the sky was overcast, and there was a light north-east wind. The barometer, at 29.74 inches (1007 millibars), was faffing unsteadily.
