MADDISON TROPHY OPENING ROUNDS PLAYED The Christchurch Bowling . Centre’s singles championship for the Tdaddison Trophy was commenced on Saturday on the Shirley and Sydenham greens, 32 players taking part. Neither green was as fast as it had been eartier in the season, and light rain during the afternoon added to the difficulties of the •bowlers. Results:— Sydenham Green First Round.—J. R. Fox Cup; a trophy awarded for competition among bowlers with less than two years’ playing experience, was played on the Sydenham green on Saturday, R. Norris, of the Elmwood Club, beating C.
