PIGEON FLYING

CANTERBURY CLUB The Canterbury Pigeon Flying. Club held a young bird race on Saturday, from Blenheim. Ninety-four birds competed frbm 19 lofts. Although the birds encountered a fairly strong southerly wind, and the velocities recorded were slower than usual, the prize-winners’ times were exceptionally close, especially second and third. The winning bird, owned by Mr D. Broad, covered the 150 miles 1670 yards in 4 hours 45 minutes 30 seconds. Mr Broad also won the club's weekly trophy prize, nominated bird priae, and the Blenheim trophy fund prize (outright). _ Probable results are as follows:—D# Broad's No. 156’(1000 yards a minute) /I, H.
