“GOOD FRIDAY”

PRESENTATION BY CHURCH SOCIETY John Masefield’s religious play, “Good Friday,” depicting the crucifixion of Jesus, was presented by the St. Stephen’s Church drama group before a good attendance in the church haff, Hill’s road, last evening. Few members of the group have had any previous experience with the stage. No directions are provided in the play and the producer (Mr W. J. Sparrow) made use of a simple setting for the piece, which was made the more impressive by the use of restrained lighting. Those taking part were:—Mrs Miriam Pearce, and Messrs G. M. Morgan, F. Cooper, G. Ridout, W. J. Sparrow, M. J. Hammersley, G. Hocken, B. M. Douglas, F. H. Law, Noel Woods, R. A. Hammersley, and lan Sparrow. The stage manager was Mr M. K. Denholm. The play will be presented again on Wednesday evening.
