COMB-OUT OF COMMUNISTS
DEBATE WANTED IN COMMONS GOVERNMENT REFUSES TIME , (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, March 19. In spite of pressure from members of all parties in the House of Commons last night, the Leader of the House (Mr Herbert Morrison) declined to provide Government time for a debate on the comb-out of Communists in the Civil Service.
The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Churchill) said he thought that some clarification by a debate might be useful, even though the Government’s action was generally supported. Mr Morrison said that if members felt strongly about the matter, it could be made the occasion of a censure motion.
