The High Commissioner for the United Kingdom (Sir Patrick Duff) and Lady Duff will leave Wellihgton to-morrow for engagements in Invercargill, Central Otago, and Dunedin. They will return to Wellington on March 25.—(P.A.) Dr. C. W. S. Jerram, radiotherapist at the Dunedin Public Hospital, has been granted a special fellowship at New York Memorial Hospital for Cancer and Allied Diseases. Americans were not interrupted in their research by war as the British were, and in New York Dr. Jerram hopes to study their latest equipment and methods. He also intends to study the application of nuclear physics to this branch of medicine. During Dr. Jerram’s absence Dr? E. J. Rawnsley will be in charge of the radiotherapy department. Dr. Jerram expects to be away for about six months.—(P.S.S.)

Professor H. Hollinrake, Dean of the Faculty of Music, Auckland University College, has returned, from a year’s sabbatical leave overseas.—(P.A.)

Sir Clifford Paterson, research director of the British General Electric Co. Ltd., and a member of the advisory council of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, who is spending a month in New Zealand, will visit Christchurch on Monday. He will spend Easter in Dunedin.— (F.0.0.R.)

Sergeant-Major A. L. Emerson, for 16 years a member of the executive of the Christchurch Returned Services' Association, was presented with a certificate of merit and elected to life membership at the annual meeting of the association last evening.
