SANATORIUM SERVICE COMMITTEE

“To-morrow we bold our street appeal and conduct a stall in Cathedral .square—this is our major effort of the year to raise money to enable us to carry on and extend our worfc.” said Canon A. H. Norris, when he presided at the quarterly meeting of the torium Service Committee, last evening, at the home of Mrs A. Hazleton, Cashmere. Reports were received from the committee’s representatives, who visit the patients in the Coronation Hospital regularly, and those at the Upper Sanatorium at longer intervals, and a short -resume of the business conducted at the meeting of the Federation of Tuberculosis Associations, held in Wellington, was given by one of the two Christchurch delegates. Miss M. Lance, who is in charge of the occupational therapy at the sanatorium, said that about 75 patients were engaged in the work, and necessary materials, such as leather and rivets, were now in much greater supply than they had been for some years. Patients, she said, were looking forward to the time when the occupational therapy, room, now in course of erection, would be completed and ready for use. At the suggestion of the Rev. A. R. Witheford it was decided that the matter of reconditioning the organ at the Middle Sanatorium be attended to. It was also decided that inquiries be made about the screening of pictures once a week for the entertainment of patients. 0 The committee recorded its willingness to help in. this matter, if necessary. It was decided to ask the social committee at the sanatorium to submit to the committee any requests for assistance for patients.
