OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON, March 16. The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: a depression near the East Cape is moving to the south-east. Forecast: moderate southerly winds, freshening on the coast. Weather cloudy and cool with further drizzle and light rain. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate south-westerlies. Cloud increasing with scattered brief showers developing. Temperatures moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was overcast but fine and mild (maximum temperature 66.1 degrees) with a light •outh-west wind. The sky was almost clear at midnight and there was a light southerly wind. The barometer at 29.88 inches (1011.9 millibars) was rising unsteadily.
