The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with che 20 hours following the time of issue is •s follows: — Situation: a deep depression south ©f the South Island. Forecast to 5 p.m.: winds backing to moderate or fresh southerlies. Weather cloudy to overcast with scattered rain accompanying the wind change. Temperatures moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— fresh north-west winds backing to south-west. Rain spreading from the south but later becoming scattered. Temperatures mild. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and warm, with a light northeast wind. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was overcast, and there was a northeast wind.
