PIGEON FLYING
CANTERBURY CLUB The Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club held a young bird race from Kaikoura on Saturday. One hundred and fifty-four entries were received from 21 lofts. Weather conditions were again ideal and the velocities recorded by the prizewinners were fast. The winning bird was owned by Mr R. Lumber, and covered the 104 miles 1612 yards in 2hr smin. The club’s trophy prize was won by Mr R. Lumber and Mr E. French won the nominated bird prize. Probable results are as follows:—R. Lumber (1424 yards a minute) 1; E. French (1420), 2; H. Gascoyne (1419 5), 3; J. Hartland (1419.4), 4; A. Stone (1417), 5.
