CLEANING WORK IN HOSPITALS
4 ESTIMATED* £41,933 THIS YEAR The cleaning of institutions controlled by the North Canterbury Hospital Board is estimated to cost £41.933 this year, and a contract with a firm of cleaners for one year was agreed upon by the board yesterday. Costs had increased considerably because of the new award wage rates, it > was renorted, and the contract provid- i ed for* the actual wage cost beingl taken as the basic figure, on which was built actual overhead, profit, and a reserve of 1| per cent. It was also proposed that the price quoted would be : a ceiling price, and subject to reduction on annual audit by the board’s 1 officers. The quotation was made up as fol- : lows:—Christchurch Hospital, £28.421; Burwood Hospital, £5282, Jubilee Hospital, £2948; Coronation Hospital, £5282.
