S.I.M.T. Railway Disaster
At the time of going to press the full casualty list in the railway disaster near Seddon is not known. Six persons, three of them unidentified, are known to have been killed.' it is feared that others may still be in the wreckage, and little is known of the condition of the 37 injured persons who were admitted to hospital. The public, grievously shocked by the news, will sympathise deeply with the relatives of the dead, with the injured, and with the many who must still be fearful for the safety of relatives and
friends. From the accounts of the accident printed 2 this morning it is clear that everything that could be done to rescue the victims was promptly done; and it goes without saying that they will have the best medical care. It is little consolation to the injured and the bereaved that serious accidents have been comparatively rare in the history of the New Zealand railways.
