(P.A.) DUNEDIN, February 24. This afternoon the Governor-Gen-eral (Sir Bernard Frey berg) and Lady Freyberg, accompanied by members of ■ their staff, witnessed the “Cavalcade of Progress” from the Market Reserve. Later his Excellency met memi bers of the British Schools’ Club ' (Otago) ifi the Returned Services’ Asj sociation board room.
Advice was received at the United States Legation last night that the newly-appointed Minister, Mr R. M. Scotten. will reach Auckland by air from Australia early in the morning of February 26.—(P.A.) The Minister of Works (Mr R. Semple) was entertained to dinner at Parliament House. Canberra, last night. Those present included the Australian Minister of Post-War Reconstruction (Mr J. J. Dedman), the Minister of Commerce and Agriculture (Mr R. T. Pollard), the Minister of Works and Housing (Mr Nelson Lemmon), the Speaker (Mr J. S. Rosevear), and the Acting High Commissioner for New Zealand (Miss J. R. McKenzie). Professor R. J. Rastrick, of the Canterbury University School of Engineering, will attend a conference on aeronautical research to be held in Australia in April. Sir Ben Lockspeiser, a scientific adviser to the British Government, will be present.
