“The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, Feb. 24. The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Cffice, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue is as follows:

Situation: an anti-cyclone in the Tasman Sea extends on to New Zealand. There is a depression east of the South Island. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate variable winds, south-west-erly predominating at first. A few showers at first about Banks Peninsula. but weather up inly fair and cool. Further outlook: fair. WEST COAST The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Moderate south-west winds, freshening in exposed places. A few isolated showers, but weather mainly fair to fine and cool. Further outlook: mainly fair. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was mainly fair, with moderate temperatures. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was almost overcast, and there was a light southerly wind. The barometer, at 29.70 inches (1005.8 millibars), was rising steadily.
